Roemer Boogaard

Roemer has served in various positions in the Dutch maritime sector, including the Royal Netherlands Navy as senior naval officer, before joining KNRM (the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution), which he served for 18 years, the last 12 of which as Executive Director. Roemer joined Royal Huisman in 2015 as Managing Director with the assignment by the shareholders to create a solid foundation for the shipyard, whilst respecting the heritage.

Managing Director

Britta Bunkenburg

With every weekend and holiday spend sailing in Germany and Scandinavia, Britta’s gap year was quickly expanded to 3 years of cruising and racing in the Caribbean, all intentions to start her studies of Hydrography diminishing rapidly. Instead, Britta started her working career in 1992 by joining Oyster Yachts as Junior Sales Negotiator. Having taken a time-out from the yachting industry by working for BMW, Britta rejoined in 2008, returning to Oyster Yachts, before joining Royal Huisman in 2016.

Commercial Manager

Thorsten Flack

Growing up on and around boats, Thorsten’s choice to study Naval Architecture was a matter of course. Thorsten’s passion for yachts in general and spending time on the water, especially on deliveries hasn’t wavered since helping his father at the tender age of 7 to pick up the family boat in Finland and sailing it to the Netherlands. Before his appointment as Sales Manager of Royal Huisman in 2016, Thorsten worked as Sales Manager for Oyster Yachts, looking after the European Market.

Sales Manager

Bert Tromp

Growing up in Vollenhove, it was inevitable for 14-year-old Bert to run into Wolter Huisman, who gave him a guided tour of the shipyard, including the 76 ft Helisara, which cemented Bert’s decision to work at the shipyard one day. After completing an engineering school for commercial ships, sailing on a gas tanker and joining the Royal Netherlands Navy, Bert joined Royal Huisman’s service department in 1990. 24 years later, Bert was appointed Sales Manager for the dedicated refit department Huisfit.

Huisfit Sales Manager

Jurjen van 't Verlaat

With a passion for yachts and everything afloat, at a young age Jurjen set his mind to work at a superyacht shipyard. To follow up on his self-promise, Jurjen studied Naval Architecture as well as Business Administration and completed internships at Royal Huisman, Amels and Pendennis. Prior to Jurjen taking over the responsibility for Marketing and Communications, he worked in the design and technical department of Royal Huisman.

Marketing & Communications

Christian Poorte

Born and raised on the Frisian lakefront, Christian’s involvement in sailing and ship’s carpentry evolved quickly to a passion for naval architecture and design after his apprentice at Royal Huisman in 1989. Leaving university with a degree in Naval Architecture, his continued interest in software, project development as well as ongoing improvement of work processes resulted in many well recognized and awarded winning yachts being built worldwide. Before his appointment at Royal Huisman in 2010, Christian was Owner and Director of Engineering of Vripack.

Business Development Manager

Sjoukje Russchen

Raised in a shipbuilding family, Sjoukje takes much pride in working for Royal Huisman, assisting the board of directors since 2009. Due to her exceptional organisational skills, Sjoukje quickly became the go-to-person for any clients or owners wishing to visit the shipyard, taking care of all necessary arrangments and answering any questions. In the weekends, she follows the family tradition and relaxes by sailing with her loved ones on the lakes near Vollenhove.

Assistant to Directors

Michael Koppstein

After graduating in design and engineering at Sydney’s Institute of Technology, Michael became a professional sailor, logging over 200.000 ocean miles. His sailing career also included a 5-year circumnavigation on the Royal Huisman-built Whirlwind XII. Michael joined the yard in 1992 as technical and commercial representative for the United States.
