Ted Fontaine / Ted Hood
Ted Fontaine is internationally respected for his specialist approach to large sailing yacht design, putting into practice a proven approach initially developed by his former mentor, the legendary Ted Hood, and subsequently refined by Fontaine himself. Every one of his 30-metre-plus (100ft) yacht designs has been nominated for, or received, an award from the International Society of Superyachts.
Fontaine became chief designer at Ted Hood Desgin Group in 1985 and took over the business in 2001, renaming it Fontaine Design Group. The studio is located in the heart of US east coast yachting, at Naragansett Bay, Rhoade Island, and has been responsible for the design of three important Huisman builds: Anakena, Surama and Pamina (the first ever Alustar yacht).
