| Meteor wins 2009 St. Barths Bucket |
The 2009 St. Barths Bucket was a great success. Trade winds blew and the sun shone on a record fleet of 35 magnificent sailing entries which included the Royal Huisman built gaff schooner Meteor and the powerful sloop Unfurled. In the ideal sailing conditions Meteor shocked the fleet with a first position not only in her class but also an overall victory in fleet.
For the first time ever the Wolter Huisman Memorial Trophy was actually presented to a Huisman Yacht. Meteor was presented this award after selection by the race committee which noted: “earned by the yacht that best exemplifies the Spirit of the Bucket -- having the most fun while displaying the best Corinthian values. Sailing their yacht perfectly with a non-professional group of great sailors while sharing their joie de vivre and generosity with the fleet.”
