Conventional wisdom states that designing and building a custom yacht will always involve trade-offs between conflicting objectives. True as that may be, there is little sign of compromise in the remarkably impressive flybridge ketch Twizzle - despite the most challenging list of objectives. The owners’ brief was certainly comprehensive: the top line specification was for a fast, luxurious long distance cruising yacht with shoal draft capabilities that offered all the amenities, comfort and standards they were accustomed to on their motor yacht. And more: the yacht should be streamlined, low-profiled and arresting in appearance; it should be effective in all latitudes and climates. There was more (much more) still.
The result is certainly testimony to the talents of Redman Whiteley Dixon, who were responsible for exterior styling as well as interior design in association with Todhunter Earle; to the expertise of Dubois Naval Architects who undertook the naval architecture for hull and rig design; and to the vision and insight of the highly experienced owners, who selected Royal Huisman for build and engineering while they, themselves, steered the project throughout. With her dramatic styling, magnificent amenity, innovative features and sparkling sailing performance, Twizzle is a yacht that will make a powerful impression wherever in the world she drops her anchors.
