Hyperion

Designed for blue water cruising with a performance edge

“The whole purpose of a boat like this is to experience the force of nature… and let nature drive you forward.

I can imagine the power of three hundred tons hurtling down a wave at twenty knots, with the wind filling the sails… and the enormous tension in the rig.

It has been a long project, something I’ve been wanting for many years of my life… a nice big yacht like this. I think we have reached a milestone.”

Jim Clark, build owner of Hyperion

Luxurious, spacious and her performance attributes are widely admired

Story Hyperion

Perhaps it is the philosophy of “the more you look the more you see” that best describes Hyperion; or perhaps it is the understanding that “every picture is worth a thousand words”. But it is certain that Project 368 has been a very special milestone for the team at Royal Huisman.

In the glamerous world of superyachting, it is often a yacht’s interior décor that gains the attention of that first critical eye, leaving an often felt need to delve beneath the surface of some innovative technical feature to differentiate one yacht from another.

Not so with Hyperion. From the outset her owner, the designers and her builder formed a dedicated team, a team of skilled explorers looking for new foutes to further the art of sailing. The driving force was her owner Dr. Jim Clark, whose well documented prominence in the computer world ensured it was the technology of Hyperion and her ground breaking computer systems that enthralled all sectors of mainstream media from yachting magazines to international news publications. But then suddenly, for the beckoning, appears Hyperion’s other face as she reveals a life as a luxurious and ever so graceful sailing yacht.
