THE SHIPYARD
Royal Huisman employs a team of nearly 300 highly motivated and skilled people, from skilled craftsmen to expert concept designers, with extraordinarily diverse experience and capabilities, working in Vollenhove at a custom-build shipyard on a premises of more than 30,000sqm. The shipyard facilities are extended to the Amsterdam region. This second location serves as an addition to the existing shipyard both for newbuilds and for Huisfit projects.

The family-operated Huisman yard built all kinds of wooden workboats when it was founded in 1884. Fit for purpose and value for money. But in the 135 years since, another aspect to boat-building gained importance: innovation. Some innovations were relatively small-scale; others were industry-trendsetters…

STAYING HUISFIT
Every yacht requires refitting and refurbishment from time to time. Huisfit, Royal Huisman’s dedicated refit department, offers everything from cosmetic repairs to hull and interior modifications, as well as machinery, systems and rig overhauls, the updating of electronics, and more. Including the necessary in-house design to support these services. A Huisfit-refit carries with it the assurance of a “better than new” result.
BETTER THAN NEW
Huisfit has already proven itself to Feadship’s Broadwater, Lürssen yachts Eos, Skat, Be Mine, Abeking & Rasmussen’s Asgard, Heesen’s Karyatis, Vitters’ Adèle, Claasen’s JH1 Lionheart, Heartbeat, HJB J8 Topaz. And also complete rebuilds / conversions such as Samurai (formerly Mari-Cha IV) and the 1913 Hereshoff schooner Vagrant. In addition numerous Royal Huisman built yachts have been taking advantage of Huisfit: for example Wisp, Juliet, Spiip (formerly Unfurled), Antares, Gliss, Athena, Meteor, Hyperion and Borkumriff IV.
Many Huisfit commissions are undertaken for returning clients and initiated by word of mouth recommendations, always based on the team’s understanding that today’s client is tomorrow’s ambassador.
