…(in Dutch: Vereniging Eigenaren van Houten Huismanboten – VEHH), was founded in 1994 and is dedicated to keeping wooden boats built by the Huisman shipyard in operation.

Between 1884 and 1943, many wooden boats and yachts were built by the shipyard. At that time the yard was located in the hamlet of Ronduite which, today, is in the center of the 105 km2 national park Weerribben-Wieden: 7 minutes from Royal Huisman’s current newbuild headquarters. For an overview of all Huisman yachts and craft built since 1884, please visit the website > yachts > delivered yachts > all Huisman craft [link].

Since the founding of the Association 30 years ago, a large fleet of veteran Huisman wooden boats has convened annually for the owners’ celebration of their affection for these historic craft. Every reunion is special because of the great diversity of presented craft: from early workboats known as punters, to the highly successful pre-war Beulakermeerkruisers, Staverse Jollen and Vollenhovensebollen.

The website of the Association (mostly in Dutch) features a fascinating selection of photos of members’ vessels as well as the annual get-togethers: houtenhuismanboten.nl/English [link opens a new tab]

Royal Huisman, itself founded in 1884, has evolved from a “local builder of wooden workboats” to the multiple award-winning creator of some of the finest superyachts in the world. An overview of our heritage can be found on this website > discover > our heritage [link]
